Magical Question Searcherizer

  • Do you deliver?

We do not offer delivery at this time.

  • Can you help me find a special bottle that you don't carry?

Absolutely. There are many, many wines available in the world, and we simply cannot stock all of them. We will happily special order any wine or beer that is available in Maine. What does that mean? We can only order bottles that have been registered for sale in this state, and that is done by the wholesalers we order from.

  • Can you get wines that aren't registered here or order wine directly from the winery?

No, that is not possible under current Maine liquor laws. However, if there is a compelling reason for a wholesaler to contract with a certain producer and carry their products, the desired label may become available.

  • Do you carry spirits?

At present, Bangor Wine does not hold an agency liquor license and subsequently does not carry distilled spirits.

  • Do you have tastings? Do you offer private tastings/events?

We are currently on hold for tastings.

  • I am gluten-intolerant/gluten-free. Do you have selections for me?

Heck yes. We offer a selection of gluten-free beers, as well as natural ciders that have no gluten additives.

  • Do you have any sulfite-free wines?

No, we do not. However, we offer wines with very low added sulfites. The reason is that sulfite-free wines are stripped of even naturally occurring sulfites, and we feel that also strips the wines of inherent character. Since many of our wines are shipped in temperature-controlled containers, the winemakers add only trace amounts to the wine to prevent re-fermentation in the bottle.

  • Do you sell wine or beer-making equipment?

    No, we do not.

  • Do you sell kegs?

Yes, we sell kegs! We do not stock them -- all kegs are special orders. We’re always happy to check availability with our distributors! link

  • How much beer is in a keg?

Keg sizes and the beer offered in the different keg sizes can vary; please reference the provided Keg Size Chart in the scroll-down menu for easy size comparison. American Macrobrews (think: Bud, Coors, PBR, Miller) are typically offered in 1/4 and 1/2 barrels. American Microbrews are offered in a variety of sizes, but most commonly in 1/6 barrels.

Imported beers are typically offered in import kegs, which may require a special tap adapter which we may not have access to provide.

  • How much does a keg cost? Availability?

The price depends on the beer chosen; see the keg list for all pricing; prices are subject to change, but we will get you a current quote upon request. Some kegs require special ordering through our distributors/breweries. Always call to check on the availability and pricing. Not every keg is available all the time, especially seasonal beers.

  • Why do you require a credit card upon placement of keg order?

In Maine, we are unable to return full, untapped kegs to our wholesalers and get our money back. They consider the beer sold to us upon delivery, and will only refund us the keg deposit, therefore we cannot be made whole if a customer changes their minds after the keg has been delivered to us. For this reason, we require a credit card reservation upon the part of the keg customer at time of order. Notification is performed via phone and/or e-mail upon keg arrival in our store, and the keg is then available for pick up at the customer’s convenience.

  • Do I need any accessories?

To access the beer in the keg, you'll need a sanky. Most American kegs use a regular sanky tap...so if you've got a kegerator in your home, you're probably set. However, some kegs require special Euro sanky adaptors (European kegs, e.g., Guinness, Harp, Hoegaarden).

If you're having a party and don't have a kegerator, you may also need a large bucket and lots of ice to keep your keg chilled.

  • What if I don't have a tap?

Bangor Wine & Cheese and Crossroads Beverage Company have a supply of traditional “party taps” that combine a sanky and a pump/tap system available for a $5 rental with a deposit fee of $50. The $50 deposit will be refunded upon undamaged return of tap. You must obtain your own taps for kegs requiring Hoff Stephens, Euro Slider (A System, G System), and other (U System, M System) couplers. Taps may be available for you to purchase from companies such as Micro Matic or Beverage Factory from their website.

  • Can I get a refund for unconsumed beer?

No. All sales are final on beer. No returns or exchanges. Even if the keg is returned partially or fully filled with beer, only the keg deposit is refundable.
